SIMPLY SAVANNAH: The Beginning
In 2010, Layla Mayville started Simply Savannah Events with the vision of creating an eco-friendly & green wedding planning company after helping out at a friend's wedding. She is very passionate about wedding coordinating, party planning and loves inspiring brides to find new and creative ways to decorate that are environmentally friendly. Layla was born and raised in Acton, Massachusetts where she earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts with a concentration in graphic design from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and received a Masters from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. In 2007 she moved to Savannah, Georgia where she met her husband, Christopher. In the fall of 2012 her husband got an amazing job opportunity in Northern New York and so Layla will be moving up to the cold Adirondacks and back to the snow!
In 2011, Nicole Rene Schwalge moved from the rainy Northwest (native Oregonian) to Savannah, Georgia to follow her hunk of a boyfriend, also named Christopher! After being a bridesmaid in her cousin's wedding she found something that excited her. Before moving to Savannah she contacted Layla and on a trip down to Savannah to find a job, the two met at their popular meeting spot, Gallery Espresso. Nicole was excited to get involved with Layla and offered to help out at the Richmond Hill Bridal Show. After that Nicole started working at all of the weddings and really found a passion for coordination and event design. When the news came out that Layla was moving, Nicole decided this was the next big step and although sad that she is losing her mentor, friend, and boss... she is excited to take over the company. She is an avid blogger and on any given day you can find her pouring over countless wedding blogs, pinning inspiration, and creating wedding inspiration boards. Nicole received her Bachelors in Business Leadership from the University of Puget Sound. Being from one of the most green environmentally conscious states in the country, Nicole hopes to continue Layla's vision of an eco-friendly company and to inspire brides to be environmentally friendly.
